We are a consortium of non-profits and volunteers of mostly teachers, farmers and animal rescue workers, who are coming together to do more than just “talk about” solutions. Since we can’t seem to get American lawmakers to follow our advice, we are taking matters into our own hands. I would say Bahamian lawmakers could do more, but in fact, it turns out, they may be trying, which is more than I can say about Americans. We intend to be applying for the farm grants that the government is offering, so we remain optimistic that they will be making some of our dream possible, but just in case they can foot the bill (what a great problem to have), we have decided to go ahead and bite off more than we can chew and ask for the public’s help to give this dream a solid, scalable foundation. With investors buying up the last of the Bahamian islands to hoard like a stolen art collection or diamonds in their safe, resources are becoming less and less accessible to the rest of us. We must take care of us!
It all starts with a dream, a plan, a shared vision, and figuring out where we all fit in. Sound exciting? The next step is to ask yourself, “where do I fit in?” Depending on your answer is how you make contact. As a non-profit that is seeking significant donations and grant funding, our promise is to be transparent with financial information. We also strive to be fully volunteer run, reinvesting future receipts into development of the property and gifts to the community. The nature of our work involves keeping people and animals safe, so specific details must remain confidential to the public. However, our initial investors, initially offered to the public at $10,000,000 in equity stock, will be privy to this confidential information at the time of their investment. As stewards for their safety potential investors will also be required to pass stricter tests before being provided with full details. Our Board will have final say on any discrepancies, and each shareholder of $1,000,000 or more will be added to our board as a voting member.
